Privacy Policy for Emote

Emote (“we,” “us,” or “the app”) is a small, private app for sharing how you feel with a close circle of friends. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. If you have questions, contact us at support@desight.co.
Who we are
Emote is operated by Matvei Voinich. Our backend is hosted on Supabase, and we use Apple’s Sign in with Apple and Apple Push Notification service to run core features.
Information we collect
We only collect what the app needs to work. We do not use analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, or any third-party tracking, and we do not sell your data.
Account information (via Sign in with Apple). When you sign in, Apple provides us with a unique account identifier and, if you allow it, your name and email address. If you choose “Hide My Email,” we receive an anonymized Apple private-relay address instead of your real email. We use this to create and secure your account.
Profile information. Your display name, username (handle), avatar color, avatar photo (optional), and your avatar-visibility preference. You provide these and can change them at any time in the app.
Content you create. Your emotes (mood, optional note, add-ons, and timestamps), reactions, comments and replies, friend lists, couple space, and who you follow.
Safety information. Accounts you block and any reports you submit, so we can keep the community safe.
Push notification token. If you enable notifications, we store your device’s push token so we can notify you when someone replies to your emote and send optional daily reminders.
We do not collect your location, contacts/address book, health data, financial data, browsing history, or usage analytics.
How we use your information
- To create and secure your account and sign you in.
- To show your emotes to the friends you’ve chosen and show you theirs.
- To keep your own past emotes available privately to you as a personal diary.
- To send reply notifications and optional daily reminders (only if you enable them).
- To operate safety features (blocking and reporting).
- To respond to support requests.
How your information is shared
- With your friends, by your choice. Emotes are visible only to people you mutually follow (or the specific list/couple space you post to), and only for 24 hours. Your own past emotes remain private to you.
- Service providers. We use Supabase (data hosting) and Apple (sign-in and push delivery) to run the app. They process data on our behalf.
- Legal reasons. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of our users.
We never share your data with advertisers, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
Data retention and deletion
Your emotes are retained so you can revisit them in your private diary. You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete account, which permanently removes your profile, emotes, reactions, comments, follows, blocks, and push tokens. Blocked/reported records needed for safety may be retained as required.
Your choices and rights
- Edit your profile and avatar visibility in the app.
- Control notifications in the app and in iOS Settings.
- Block or report anyone from their profile or emote.
- Delete your account and all associated data from Profile → Delete account.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (access, correction, deletion, portability). Contact us at support@desight.co to exercise them.
Children
Emote is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Access to your emotes is restricted by database-level security rules so only you and the friends you’ve chosen can see them. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will update the “Effective date” above and, for material changes, notify you in the app.
